The Smart Energy Carnival, co-organized by the Department of Geography and the Asian Energy Studies Centre of Hong Kong Baptist University and Hong Chi Morninglight School, was successfully held on March 25. Over 120 students from both the primary and secondary divisions participated, creating a vibrant and heartwarming atmosphere.
As a highlight of the “SEE × Morninglight Low-Carbon Energy Base” initiative, the carnival invited students to explore renewable energy and sustainable living through hands-on booth games and creative workshops, while co-creating a low-carbon and inclusive community for the future:
Operated solar-powered bubble machines and cars to experience how sunlight is converted into energy
Painted and personalized their own solar-powered cars
Used infrared cameras to visualize heat distribution and take thermal photos
Played card puzzle games to learn about energy-saving habits in daily life
Created a Smart Energy Community Model using recycled materials, fostering imagination and teamwork
This event also marked the first collaboration with Bethel High School in the Fairview Park community. Their student-designed booths were a hit, facilitating cross-school exchange and spreading low-carbon awareness from the classroom to the community.
As students admired their finished models and creations, many wore proud and satisfied smiles:
"Building a low-carbon future is something we can all take part in."
